The pavilions can be understood as a permanent tableau vivant in the city, clusters of strange and shining shapes, hovering high above the streets and squeezed into unexpected locations.
The pavilions are eye-catching pieces of urban furniture, performing the outlandish and the eccentric, representing the complex and emancipated life of the city. Tableau vivant: “tableau vivant” as, “a representation of a personage, character, scene, incident, etc., or of a well-known painting or statue, by one person or a group of persons in suitable costumes and attitudes, silent and motionless.” -Oxford English Dictionary
